Vanilla Custard Bars in the Air Fryer
Ingredients:
For the Crust:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
For the Custard Filling:
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
For Topping (Optional):
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions:
- Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C). If your air fryer doesn’t have a preheat function, run it at the desired temperature for a couple of minutes before starting.
- Prepare the Crust: In a medium bowl, combine the flour, softened butter, and powdered sugar. Mix until well combined. Press the mixture into the bottom of a greased 9×9-inch air fryer-safe baking pan to form an even crust.
- Air Fry the Crust: Place the baking pan with the crust into the preheated air fryer and air fry for about 10 minutes or until the crust is just starting to turn golden.
- Prepare the Custard Filling: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar and flour. Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Gradually whisk in the milk until the mixture is smooth. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Pour Over Partially Baked Crust: Once the crust is partially baked, pour the custard filling over the hot crust.
- Air Fry Again: Return the baking pan to the air fryer and air fry for an additional 20-25 minutes or until the custard is set and the top is lightly golden.
- Cool and Chill: Allow the bars to cool to room temperature in the pan, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours to chill completely.
- Cut and Serve: Once chilled, lift the bars out of the pan using the parchment paper. Cut into squares, dust with powdered sugar if desired, and serve.
- Enjoy: Enjoy these delicious Vanilla Custard Bars made in the air fryer!
Note: Air fryers can vary, so keep an eye on the bars during the cooking process to ensure they don’t overcook. Adjust the cooking time if needed.
