Vanilla Custard Bars in the Air Fryer

Ingredients:

For the Crust:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

For the Custard Filling:

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

For Topping (Optional):

  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C). If your air fryer doesn’t have a preheat function, run it at the desired temperature for a couple of minutes before starting.
  2. Prepare the Crust: In a medium bowl, combine the flour, softened butter, and powdered sugar. Mix until well combined. Press the mixture into the bottom of a greased 9×9-inch air fryer-safe baking pan to form an even crust.
  3. Air Fry the Crust: Place the baking pan with the crust into the preheated air fryer and air fry for about 10 minutes or until the crust is just starting to turn golden.
  4. Prepare the Custard Filling: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar and flour. Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Gradually whisk in the milk until the mixture is smooth. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Pour Over Partially Baked Crust: Once the crust is partially baked, pour the custard filling over the hot crust.
  6. Air Fry Again: Return the baking pan to the air fryer and air fry for an additional 20-25 minutes or until the custard is set and the top is lightly golden.
  7. Cool and Chill: Allow the bars to cool to room temperature in the pan, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours to chill completely.
  8. Cut and Serve: Once chilled, lift the bars out of the pan using the parchment paper. Cut into squares, dust with powdered sugar if desired, and serve.
  9. Enjoy: Enjoy these delicious Vanilla Custard Bars made in the air fryer!

Note: Air fryers can vary, so keep an eye on the bars during the cooking process to ensure they don’t overcook. Adjust the cooking time if needed.
