Prep Time Cook Time Total Time
20 mins 40 mins 1 hr

Ingredients:

  • potatoes (refer below for the quality of potatoes to choose from)
  • salt
  • oil
  • pepper

Variations:

If you have a penchant for spicy meals, consider coating them in peri for an extra kick. Alternatively, you can enhance the flavor by brushing a combination of your preferred spice mix and 1 tablespoon of oil, giving it a tantalizing twist reminiscent of Moroccan, Sriracha, or Cajun cuisine.

Storage:

For the best experience, enjoy this dish while it’s fresh. In the event of leftovers, store them in an airtight plastic container and either freeze or refrigerate them. When you’re ready to serve, simply air fry them to restore their delightful texture and taste.

Ingredients:

  • 3 potatoes boiled, large
  • 2 tbsp. oil
  • salt and pepper as per taste

Instructions:

  1. In a saucepan of boiling water, boil the potatoes. Let it cool.
  2. Peel the potatoes once cool.
  3. Grate potatoes using a grater or food processor. Add oil, salt, and pepper, and mix the mixture well
  4. Meanwhile, preheat the air fryer to 190 C| 375 F.
  5. Now in a preheated air fryer, optionally line the parchment paper. Make a patty of desired shape, using a cookie cutter.
  6. Ensure they are not overlapping with each other.
  7. Air fry for 15 mins at 190 C (375 F) brushing oil once in between
  8. Brush the oil again and flip. Cook at 200C | 390 F for 7-8 minutes or until crisp. For the last few minutes of the cook, you may remove the parchment paper.
  9. Serve immediately.

Notes:

Distinguishing itself from the homemade hashbrowns recipe, this potato cake recipe takes a unique approach. Here, the potatoes are fully boiled, in contrast to hashbrowns where they are only partially boiled. This variation in preparation results in distinct textures and flavors for each delectable dish.
