Air Fryer Meringue

Posted on June 24, 2025
Picture taking a bite of soft, airy meringue with a crunchy outside and a sweet, light center that melts as you eat it. Now, think about making this tasty treat in an air fryer—no need for a regular oven, and still getting that perfect texture. In this post, we’ll walk through how to make meringue in the air fryer, a simple dessert that’s sure to wow your family and friends. Let’s get started and see how it’s done!

Mixing Until Just Right

First, get everything you need: 4 egg whites, 215g of caster sugar, 1 teaspoon of cornflour, 1 teaspoon of white vinegar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Take a clean, dry bowl and use electric beaters to whip the egg whites until they form stiff peaks. This part is key to getting that soft, airy feel meringue is loved for. As you beat the eggs, you’ll see them change from runny to thick and fluffy—almost like a cloud.

Adding Sweetness and Stability

Alright, now it’s sugar time—but don’t dump it all in. Add just one spoon at a time while you keep mixin’ those egg whites. That way, it blends in smooth and melts down right. As you go, you’ll see the mix get thick and glossy. Sugar ain’t just for the sweet—it helps keep your meringue firm so it stays lookin’ good.

Secret Ingredients

Alright, here’s the trick to makin’ your meringue top-notch: toss in a bit of cornflour, a splash of white vinegar, and a drop of vanilla. Mix it just enough to blend—don’t overdo it. The cornflour keeps things steady so your meringue doesn’t fall flat or get soggy. The vinegar helps give it that nice crunch on the outside while keepin’ the middle soft and chewy. And the vanilla? Just a little kick of flavor to bring it all together.

Shaping and Baking

Alright, mix is lookin’ good—time to shape it up and cook it. Grab two pieces of baking paper, about 15 inches each. Scoop your meringue onto one, then use the back of a spoon to smooth it into a circle, about 7 inches wide. Press a little dip in the middle—that’s where your toppings are gonna sit later. Now, drop the second sheet of baking paper into your air fryer basket. Gently lift the one with the meringue and lay it on top, kinda like a cross with the two papers. Fire up the air fryer to 250°F and let it go for 30 minutes. While it’s cooking’, your kitchen’s gonna smell like a sweet dream.

Cooling and Serving

When the timer goes off, pull out the air fryer drawer and just leave the pavlova chillin’ in there for about 20 minutes. This gives it a chance to set without messing up that soft inside. After that, carefully move the whole thing—paper and all—onto a cooling rack. Let it cool down all the way before you dig in. Don’t rush it—this part’s key if you want it to turn out just right.

The Final Touches

Now for the fun part—dressing up your air fryer pavlova. Grab a big ol’ spatula and gently move it onto a serving plate. The outside’s nice and crispy, and the inside’s soft like a marshmallow—perfect for piling on the good stuff. Slap on a thick layer of whipped cream to make it extra rich. Throw on some fresh raspberries for a pop of color and a little tang. Then, take some Cadbury Caramilk and shave off some curls to toss on top. Finish it off with a light dusting of powdered sugar to make it look real fancy. Prep Time: 30 minutes Cook Time:30 minutes Total Time: 1hour Servings: 4 Calories: 114

Ingredients

  • 4 egg whites
  • 215g (1 cup) caster sugar
  • 1 tsp cornflour
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream to serve
  • Raspberries, to serve
  • Cadbury Caramilk chocolate, peeled into curls, to serve

Instructions

  1. Use electric beaters to whisk the egg whites in a clean, dry bowl until firm peaks form. Add the sugar, 1 tbsp at a time, whisking constantly until the mixture is thick and glossy. Add the cornflour, vinegar and vanilla and beat until just combined.
  2. Tear two 38cm sheets of baking paper. Spoon the mixture onto one sheet of baking paper. Use the back of a spoon to shape the meringue into an 18cm disc. Make an indent in the centre. Place the remaining piece of baking paper into the air fryer basket. Carefully lift the baking paper with the meringue into the basket, placing the paper at right angles to the first piece.
  3. Air fry at 120°C for 30 minutes. Remove the air fryer drawer. Set the pavlova aside in the basket for 20 minutes to cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack (with the baking paper) to cool completely.
  4. Use a large palette knife to carefully transfer the pavlova to a serving plate. Top with whipped cream, raspberries and Caramilk. Dust with icing sugar to serve.
