Ingredients
- 2 slices of thick-cut bread (sourdough, Texas toast, or rye work well)
- – 1 cup cooked shredded or sliced BBQ brisket (leftover or store-bought)
- – ¼ cup BBQ sauce (plus extra for dipping)
- – ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (or pepper jack for a kick)
- – 2 slices provolone or Swiss cheese
- – 2 tbsp butter, softened
- – 1 tbsp chopped pickled jalapeños (optional)
- – 1 tbsp diced red onion (optional)
Instructions
1.Prep the Brisket:
– In a small bowl, mix the shredded brisket with BBQ sauce until well coated.
2. Assemble the Sandwiches:
– Butter one side of each bread slice.
– On the unbuttered side of one slice, layer:
– Shredded cheddar cheese
– BBQ brisket mixture
– Jalapeños & red onion (if using)
– Provolone/Swiss cheese slice
– Top with the second bread slice, buttered side facing out.
3. Air Fry:
– Preheat the air fryer to 370°F (190°C) for 2 minutes.
– Place the sandwich in the air fryer basket and cook for 3-4 minutes .
– Carefully flip the sandwich and cook for another 3-4 minutes , until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
4. Serve:
– Slice in half and serve with extra BBQ sauce for dipping.
Tips:
– For extra crispiness, spritz the bread with a little oil before air frying.
– If using thick brisket slices, warm them in the microwave for 30 seconds before assembling.
– Swap in coleslaw or pickles for added crunch!
