Cottage Cheese Sticks

Cottage Cheese Sticks are a quick and healthy snack that’s packed with protein and full of flavor. They are crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and perfect for dipping into your favorite sauce. This recipe is simple to follow and uses everyday ingredients. You can make them as a light snack, an appetizer for guests, or even as a side dish with a salad.

The main ingredient here is cottage cheese, which gives these sticks a creamy, cheesy taste without being too heavy. Breadcrumbs add a crisp golden coating, while a mix of spices makes them extra tasty. They can be baked or fried, depending on your preference.

These cheese sticks are great for kids, ideal for meal prep, and can be served hot or cold. If you want a low-fat option, choose low-fat cottage cheese and bake them instead of frying.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Oil, for frying (or cooking spray if baking)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the coating: Place flour in one shallow bowl, beaten egg in another, and breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a third.
  2. Shape the sticks: Drain cottage cheese well. Shape the cottage cheese into small stick-like shapes using your hands or a spoon.
  3. Coat the sticks: Roll each stick first in the flour, then dip in egg, and finally coat with breadcrumbs. Make sure they are fully covered for a crunchy crust.
  4. Cook the sticks:
    • Fry: Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the sticks until golden brown on all sides, about 2–3 minutes per side.
    • Bake: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place sticks on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, spray with cooking oil, and bake for 15–20 minutes, turning halfway through.
  5. Serve: Let cool slightly, then serve with ketchup, ranch, or your favorite dip.

Tips & Tricks

  • Make sure the cottage cheese is well-drained so the sticks hold together.
  • For extra crunch, double-coat the sticks by dipping in egg and breadcrumbs twice.
  • Try adding grated Parmesan to the breadcrumb mixture for a cheesier flavor.
